I have been in scientific research dealing with spatial distribution of plants and animals, including the issues of biological diversity, since 1995. Using the GIS, statistical methods (CCA, CART, DA, logit etc.) and other technologies (e.g. RS, GPS, hemispherical canopy photos) I integrate various types of data relevant for description and explanation of spatial distribution of biological entities. These were backbones of mine M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis, both in ecology, accepted at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 1999 and 2006, respectively.

In period 09/1995-07/2001 I have worked as teaching/research assistant at the Division of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.
From 08/2001 till 08/2006, I was a head of Laboratory of Biogeography in OIKON Ltd. – Institute for Applied Ecology.
From 11/2006-ongoing I am at the Division of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, where as Assoc. Prof. I'm teaching courses on plant ecology, terrestrial habitats, application of GIS in biology and field work.

I managed the creation of "Preliminary ecological network of Croatia" (2002), and co-managed the LIFE02 TCY CRO/012 project "Ecological Network of Croatia as a part of PEEN and NATURA2000 network" (2002-2005). I was actively involved in project "Mapping of habitats of the Republic of Croatia" and lead the project "Vegetation map of Žumberak-Samoborsko gorje Nature Park – MMU 2.25 ha". As a habitats team leader I was involved in World Bank "Karst Ecosystem Conservation Project" in Croatia (from 2002 till August 2006). I was involved and/or leading in number of projects dealing with flora and habitat mapping in Croatian protected areas.
As a biodiversity expert I participated in PDF B phase of UNDP/GEF project " Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity in the Dalmatian Coast through Greening Coastal Development ("COAST")" and in "National report on climate change 1996.-2003.".

From 2007 till 2012 I was involved in the International School of Conservation Biology .

Vegetation section Editor in the Acta Botanica Croatica journal (web site at Versita)
Editorial Board member of Applied Ecology and Environmental Research
Editor of Periodicum Biologorum

I have published over 30 peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of biodiversity.

I am a member  of several societies:

Hrvatsko biološko društvo (HBD) / Croatian Biological Society
Hrvatsko botaničko društvo (HBoD) / Croatian Botanical Society
Hrvatsko ekološko društvo (HED) / Croatian Ecological Society - President of the Society
International Association for Vegetation Science (IAVS)
International Association of Ecology (INTECOL)
International Association of Landscape Ecology (IALE)
Östalpin-Dinarische Gesellschaft fur Vegetationskunde

I love my country, and think it is Eldorado for biologists because of its specific biogeographical position (interlace of continental, pannonian, alpine and mediterranean regions). I hope that one day this map will be all in green color (representing areas where I have done, or I am currently conducting field surveys).
